Our Story
Founded 2014
Agora began with a simple belief: that a great cup of coffee is one of life's finest pleasures — and that everyone deserves access to it. Marco Ferretti opened our doors in 2014 with three vintage espresso machines, two staff, and an unwavering commitment to sourcing the world's finest beans.
Ten years later, Agora has grown into a community institution — a place where students sit next to chefs, where creatives work alongside commuters, and where every guest is welcomed like a regular from day one.
What We Stand For
Three principles guide every decision we make — from which farm to partner with to how we design our menu.
01
We taste every lot before purchasing. If it doesn't move us, it doesn't make the menu — simple as that.
02
We publish full traceability for every bean we sell — the farm, the farmer, the harvest date, and the price we paid.
03
Coffee is only as good as the community around it. We reinvest in the neighbourhoods and the farmers who make Agora possible.
Our Journey
Marco Ferretti opens the original Agora on Ashwood Lane with a simple vision: great coffee, no compromise.
We bring roasting in-house, purchasing a vintage Probat drum roaster and hiring Sofia Chen as Head Roaster.
First direct-trade relationship established with Bekele Farm in Ethiopia — the beginning of a true origin programme.
Named Athens' Best Specialty Café by Time Out and won our first UK Barista Championship.
Launched the Agora Workshop Series — monthly public events on coffee science, sustainability, and culture.
